Hello fellow eastsiders. I grew up, as Jacky Gilbert, on Eastlawn between Jefferson and Kercheval, attended Ives Elementary, Jackson Jr. High, Cass Tech, MCCC, and Oakland Univ.

Now retired from an art-related field, I spend my time enjoying family and friends both locally and on each coast.

I loved the old neighborhood and occasionally drive down Jefferson, bypassing the I-94 weekend construction closures, enroute home downtown from a visit at my daughter’s home in St Clair Shores.

During these drives I am immediately transported back in time to my youth and the many memories of living in a neighborhood that offerred (within walking distance) restaurants, shopping, music stores, movie theaters, Friday night dances at St. Martins, public parks, neighborhood parties (all with live music), and the sounds of practicing garage bands.
